Half year volumes have increased in 2012 at both TIV and BCT with a 27% increase at TIV and a 9.5% increase at BCT when compared to the volume figures for 2011
Use of automated container operations system at BCT
BCT has implemented the use of Automated Container Operations System (ACOS). This system allows us to automatically process all incoming and outgoing containers in the terminal through the utilisation of optical character recognition.
Implementation of rail module at BCT
In March 2012 BCT implemented the rail module component of its Automated Container Operations System. This installation includes a portal that allows the capture of visual data of each container entering or exiting the terminal by rail. This, together with the gate module implemented in 2009 and the quay module being implemented currently, allows the optimisation of terminal operations and the processing of higher container volumes with minimal delays.
