Baltic Container Terminal – Equipment

BCT covers 570,000 square metres while the total yard capacity carries some 5,000 ground slots and over 500 reefer plugs that are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Yard operations are backed by a variety of equipment that includes 4 rail-mounted gantry cranes, reach stackers as well as various tractors, trailers and forklifts. The terminal has a 450-metre long quay with an alongside depth of 12.5 metres. There are plans to extend the quay by another 200 metres in the near future. The quay is equipped with five rail-mounted ship-to-shore container gantries, of which the most launched in August 2020.

BCT enjoys direct rail access, its own rail handling facility and a valuable rail connection to Moscow with a transit time of just 36 hours available on a regular basis. Two rail-mounted container cranes are used for loading and unloading from these rail platforms.

The company has its own warehousing facilities covering over 32,000 square meters of covered space with road and rail access for the storage of different cargoes. Distribution to Latvia is easily provided via these warehouses as well as to its neighbouring countries. A Container Freight Station offers extensive facilities and equipment for the stuffing and stripping of containers with operations carried out to and from warehouses, trucks or rail wagons. The facility also has its own engineering workshop to cater for damaged containers or other repairs. All BCT’s operations are manned by knowledgeable staff that understands the needs of their clients and their urgency of their businesses. Those operations take place within the Freeport territory to provide BCT customers with major taxation and administrative advantages.
